Back in the day, Clarence “Kenny” Harder’s was well known to Coast residents. Nearly every fair and grand opening didn’t go without Harder’s one-man-band and always drew a crowd. This month, he is getting one last encore.
Born and raised in Biloxi, Harder loved music and became an accomplished and well known Biloxi musician by playing local venues and operating the Idle Awhile music shop repairing instruments. There wasn’t an instrument he couldn’t play – including the saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, and piano, to name a few. Harder declined many offers to play with nationally recognized musicians to stay with his family in Biloxi.
Biloxi’s Cultural and Heritage Committee of the Biloxi Bay Chamber along with the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art collected many items that Harder used in his heyday and will showcase the items during the month of October.
