Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art

Clay Outreach

Teacher Information

The Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art offers outreach programs to schools in all coastal counties. There are both free and fee based programs available for students of all ages. All programs are designed to teach students about the Ohr legacy through a 30 minute discussion and introduce them to ceramic-based mediums. Activities take approximately 30 minutes. Total time spent with one group of students’ averages 1 hour.

Schools may choose between air-dry clay projects and projects in which bisque must be fired in the museum’s kiln. Fired projects will be created and glazed by the students at their school, after which, a museum representative will collect the pieces to take them to the museum to be fired, before returning them to the school.

All programs must be reserved 30 days in advance. Scheduling will not occur between April 1st and August 1st.

Each workshop capacity varies due to space available at the school. Because the outreach staff is very limited we prefer to work with as many students at once as possible in order to reach as many schools as possible. Teaching a large amount of children is made possible through parent volunteers and teachers assisting with the projects.
